about

Primarily the work of multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter Theo Mak, ‘I Can Pay For It: A Collection of Songs for the Current Political & Socio-economic Crisis’ is the new EP from E-Mute.

Having evolved over the years as a fluid collective of creative and experienced musicians, Theo is the driving force behind E-Mute. For this release he has enlisted the help of three of those musicians to bring life to his politically minded brand of alternative rock.

The first E-Mute release to be fully recorded with live instruments, this EP has a real, live, gritty feel to its distortion laden guitars and thundering drums. This organic approach is very suitable for the subject matter, which takes a lyrical microscope to grimy current issues in the political and economic arenas.

Intense, ironic and by turns darkly funny or genuinely thought provoking, the EP was recorded over the course of one, very productive day in the studio.

Track Name: E-Mute I Can Pay For It
I want a good car,
I want a fancy car,
I want a blue car, orange car or yellow car
I wanna drive around the city like the king I should have been
To travel everywhere, to show off anywhere
To park it where I want as long I want and not care
To take me everywhere, to show off anywhere
I'm just a shallow guy with nothing else to care about
I want to drive around a fast car
I want to drive around a fast car
I want to drive around a fast car
I want to drive around a fast car
Yeah I so want to feel important, yeah I just want to be important

I want a bigger house, I want a fancy fridge
I want to eat in posh hotels with many swimming pools
I want expensive clothes, I want that rotten cheese,
I want the oldest wine you have Sir I can pay for it
I want to drive around a fast car
I want to drive around a fast car
I want to drive around a fast car
I want to drive around a fast car
Yeah I so want to feel important, yeah I just want to be important
All the things that I need
All the things that I need
All the things that I need
All the things that I need
What about life what about love
What about all the simple things in life,
Family friends, mountains and lakes,
What about all the simple things in life...
I want to recharge, let me breathe once more again... ah...
Yeah I so want to feel important, yeah I just want to be important
Track Name: E-Mute Pink Elephant
Friends enemies others and relatives

Parents families babies and celebrities

Winners losers believers and confusers

Drinkers thinkers introverts and extroverts

Positive negative empathy and sympathy

Strength and weakness happiness and misery

Makes sense nonsense birth life death and health

Hugs and kisses tears panic push away
Chorus:
There is a pink elephant, pink elephant,
There is a pink elephant, pink elephant
In the room.
Verse 2:
Guns n' roses, politics, hypocrisy

Dying and living how can we survive this game,

drunk or sober what the hell I'm doing here

atheists scientists, priests, beliebers Justin Biebers

Presidents, parliaments anarchists and terrorists

fearing, risking winning bets or losing games

Makes sense nonsense birth life death and health

Hugs and kisses tears panic push away
Chorus:
There is a pink elephant, pink elephant,
There is a pink elephant, pink elephant
In the room.

Vocal outro:

Come on let's bring on the fun, bring on the fun
Come on let's bring on the fun, bring on the fun
In the room
Track Name: E-Mute For Yourself
Sacrilegious cause but it seems that is going to define our course
Can't be bothered to dream, everyday stuck in the same routine
Thought I was part of a new generation that was supposed to bring
peace to deliver salvation kid's belief but such a beautiful gesture...

--Stand up, stand for yourself, stand for us all, and stop obeying them all--

What a fucking feeling how can we keep making the same mistakes,
centuries of pain just appear to repeat like the circle of fifths...
Thought I was part of a new generation that was supposed to bring
peace to deliver salvation, kid's belief but such a beautiful gesture...

--Stand up, stand for yourself, stand for us all and stop obeying them all--
Track Name: E-Mute Say What You Want to Say
Cross the border make your way
Say boy you've lost your mind?
Last patrol today, same old fight for your right...
They say... not believing no more meaning
Don't turn your back and they'll praise
Honour, no fear, hard believe..
Say what you want to say, give in, portray the way you want to be seen

Falling in triumph everyday
Another price for you to pay...
Fighting for no cause, for your right for your pride, they say...
Not believing no more meaning
Don't turn your back, don't turn your back and they'll praise
Honour, no fear, faith, hard believe...
Say what you want to say, give in, portray the way you want to be seen
Track Name: E-Mute Miracle
Life is just a miracle
No matter what we're thinking, so?
Oh no
What are we living no
Unfortunate circumstance
Its driving us to nowhere land
Open your eyes to see again
What you've become, my God
In what a state you are
Living in times of violence
Of fear and absolution
Its time to stand up for yourself
Its time to face your lonely self

And I, looking straight up to the sky
Facing fears I can't deny;
All I want to see is a clue
cause I don't remember you

Life is just a vehicle
No matter what we're thinking so?
Oh no
What we were thinking no
A common known avoidance
Its turning Earth to wasteland
Heaven and Hell is everywhere
That makes life such an odd
in what a state we are
Sharing the same experience,
While looking for solution
Its time to look deep in ourselves
Its time to investigate ourselves

And I, looking straight up to the sky,
Facing fears I can't deny,
All I want to see is a clue cause I don't remember
I, looking straight up to the sky, facing fears I can't deny,
All I want to see is a clue cause I don't remember you.

And I, looking straight up to the sky, facing fears YOU can't deny,
All I want to see is a clue cause I don't remember you.
Track Name: E-Mute Praise Your Senses
Open your eyes

It’s time for you

To see yourself in another light again

You feel abandoned

Shadows ahead

Can spoil your flight

Will make you fall and burn

Your wings while no one will know

Praise your senses, and you will be assured

Following crowds can do no good,

It’s just not good to be so sure,

For an unexamined life

Look to the stars and hope will grow,

Once again in you, my love

It’s all related

Praise your senses, and you will be assured live,

live and feel whatever your soul craves
Track Name: E-Mute Time (No Tomorrow - acoustic version)
Oh who can see the colours
At the end of this wrecked voyage
Tomorrow might be late
All lights might just fade away
Nobody else can see the soul that lives in you
Nobody else can see the time you spend with you

All you do is selling time, but that feeds your sorrow
With no remorse and no tomorrow

The answers are all vague its a matter,
A matter of a fallen ego
Its night out, its day out
Does it matter if you cant just live it?
Nobody else can see the soul that lives in you
Nobody else can see the time you spend with you

All you do is selling time, but that feeds your sorrow
With no remorse and no tomorrow
Time just pass and you don't care
But is it real or just a deal
With no tomorrow
