Primarily the work of multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter Theo Mak, ‘I Can Pay For It: A Collection of Songs for the Current Political & Socio-economic Crisis’ is the new EP from E-Mute.
Having evolved over the years as a fluid collective of creative and experienced musicians, Theo is the driving force behind E-Mute. For this release he has enlisted the help of three of those musicians to bring life to his politically minded brand of alternative rock.
The first E-Mute release to be fully recorded with live instruments, this EP has a real, live, gritty feel to its distortion laden guitars and thundering drums. This organic approach is very suitable for the subject matter, which takes a lyrical microscope to grimy current issues in the political and economic arenas.
Intense, ironic and by turns darkly funny or genuinely though provoking, the EP was recorded over the course of one, very productive day in the studio.
Mixed by engineer is Andrea Adriano (Adele, Katy B), and mastered by Sigurdor Gudmundsson at Skonnrock Studios.
lyrics
Friends enemies others and relatives
Parents families babies and celebrities
Winners losers believers and confusers
Drinkers thinkers introverts and extroverts
Positive negative empathy and sympathy
Strength and weakness happiness and misery
Makes sense nonsense birth life death and health
Hugs and kisses tears panic push away
Chorus:
There is a pink elephant, pink elephant,
There is a pink elephant, pink elephant
In the room.
Verse 2:
Guns n' roses, politics, hypocrisy
